Elementary STEM/Technology Lead

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
MY Project USA’s STEM/Technology Lead will provide instruction for STEM/technology activities for a single-week camp. Fundamental STEM/technology skills are taught with project or work outcomes at the end of a project period of one week. Incorporation of SEL development
& community engagement are encouraged. The majority of youth that MYPUSA works with come from immigrant and refugee backgrounds as well as from underserved communities of color. This person will actively engage students in our programs who need assistance to improve their academic performance in any of the core or elective content courses required by the State of
Ohio.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Design a week-long STEM/technology camp. A field trip may be included
● Provide engaging instruction in STEM/technology and design in fundamental skills & concepts using tools such as coding, CAD, robotics, 3-D printing, drones, and more.
● Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students

● Maintain accurately and complete records of students' progress and development
● Actively engage students in our summer program to build relationships and provide assistance as needed throughout the program.
● Working with the summer camp academic team to create a culture within the program that prioritizes positive achievement and growth for students.
● Applying best practices to help motivate students to strive to meet their growth goals according to their potential.
● Plan STEM/technology activities and create the week’s plans
● Contact the authorities if suspecting a youth is at risk in their home.
● Maintaining confidential data of all students served

PRIOR EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCE

● Bachelor's degree related to STEM/technology Education, IT License, any degree in education, or equivalent professional experience.

● Experience designing and leading youth nutrition courses.
● Able to manage students in an instructional setting.
● Able to track student data as much as needed.
● Able to communicate with colleagues, school personnel, and parents as needed.
● Comfortable working in a shifting environment.
● Able to manage students in an instructional setting

● Experience with refugee, immigrant, and underserved communities preferred
● Experience with at-risk youth is a plus
● A passion for helping children to succeed.
● No prior criminal offenses. Successfully pass FBI/BCI background check
● Understanding of when/how to apply Mandatory Reporting requirements.

EDUCATION
● Bachelor's degree related to STEM/technology Education, IT License, any experience in education of K-12 students, or equivalent professional experience. College students pursuing any of the above requirements are welcome to apply.

● This position is part-time. Specific hours can be negotiated within the hours of the program setting.
● In-person/on-site at the designated setting

COMPENSATION
● Negotiated hourly wage based on experience and qualifications

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
