Munich Re Specialty Insurance is looking for an Engagement Manager for our In-house Underwriting units. This role
encompasses performing a wide range of project initiative leadership duties on behalf of senior leaders in the organization.

The successful candidate will have deep experience leading cross-functional teams and large, complex strategic programs. They will need to have the relevant foundation and industry knowledge to develop their own process, drive their work, and orchestrate the actions of others without the need for step-by-step instructions. This role is critical to the success of MRSI’s in-house underwriting strategy and will lead a team that has a direct impact on the operating and financial results of the organization.

The Engagement Manager is responsible for the following:
  • Accountable for overall engagement process for new products, capabilities and additional transformation activities, from initialization through go-live.
  • Responsible for facilitating communication and influencing outcomes across underwriting, claims, actuarial, analytics, product development, operations, et al.
  • Lead cross-functional project initiation phases to determine and document scope, effort, timeline, cost, dependencies, and alternatives
  • Proactively step-in to action critical needs as they arise throughout the engagement lifecycle
  • Process owner responsible for establishing operational metrics, monitoring execution, and reporting on results for new opportunities or material changes in existing portfolio.
  • Manage and implement portfolio plans, product backlogs, sprint plans for continuous improvement to process and workflow
  • Manage and/or provide work direction to Business Analysts, Process Engineers, and Project Managers assigned to programs work.
  • Willing to travel as required, up to 25%, primarily to Princeton, NJ and Philadelphia, PA

Your profile

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (required), master’s degree (preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience in Program Management, Communications or Strategic Management area
  • 5+ years of demonstrated results in the insurance industry
  • Success in leading and managing complex, cross-functional initiatives from idea to post-deployment
  • Proven track record managing off-track projects back to on-track through communication and action mitigating.
  • A self-motivated individual able to work with varying organizational and geographic styles to the end goal of unifying and standardizing the delivery culture and capability
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • Enjoys being a team player and collaborating in the creation of entirely new products and business models
  • Agility to work across multiple internal teams and multiple assignments in a dynamic environment
  • Experience producing project artifacts including but not limited to project plans, requirements documents, functional specifications, and data mapping and process flows
  • Strong change management, process improvement, communication, and time management skills
  • Experience identifying, optimization opportunities via Lean Six Sigma or similar capabilities
  • Successful implementation and use of portfolio visual management
  • Consulting and collaborative working style creating a culture of accountability and sharing
The base salary range anticipated for this position is $146,600-$215,100, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
