Job Description

Job purpose

The Engineering Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the profitable performance of FMI within the Innomotive Solutions Group of companies by seeking to continually improve the functionality and efficiency of the Engineering Team plus delivering on growth-oriented initiatives. This will be accomplished by actively engaging in the activities of the team, supporting other areas of operations and helping to establish and implement programs in the areas of product design and development, process engineering and manufacturing engineering.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage the FMI’s Engineering Team and interface with others to effectively lead and grow the technical capabilities of the Team so that it can function as a standalone business unit.
  • Work with key personnel to manage and refine processes specific to New Product Development and Product modifications from concept to final approval including all necessary co-ordination with internal and external personnel.
  • Manage and refine New Processes from concept to implementation including all necessary coordination with internal and external personnel.
  • Coordinate Project Management for all projects.
  • Develop and manage product testing capabilities - both in-house and in the field.
  • Manage in-house documents and drawings.
  • Manage and provide Technical Support to Sales and Production Departments.
  • Accountable for achieving applicable annual Strategic Planning goals.
  • Recommending areas for focus and improvement in New Product Design and Development, Process Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Hands-on management of electronic and mechanical design and development for new products as determined.
  • Hands-on management of product modifications as determined.
  • Hands-on management of process engineering and manufacturing engineering
  • Design, develop and/or modify production tooling and equipment (jigs, fixtures, etc.) as directed.
  • Develop and manage product testing procedures.
  • Serve as Project Manager to ensure FMI projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Work with sales personnel and customers to assess needs and develop/refine products to suit.
  • Engage in professional development for own growth and oversee professional development of direct reports.
  • Serve as a mentor to personnel on the Technical Team and others as determined.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree minimum B.Eng. or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years' experience within an engineering environment
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with SolidWorks or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years Management experience with the ability to lead cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated Process and Change Management skills.
  • ISO 9001 experience as MI contemplates certification.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at any one time.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Strong English oral and written communications skills.
  • Able to travel within the United States and Canada as required to assist with Sales Support and Product Development.
