Position Highlights
The Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Black Advancement and Engagement provides high-level administrative support to Dr. Lehman Benson. The Executive Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative, fiscal, and operational support to Dr. Benson and will serve as the primary contact for the office. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and organization, accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for a broad array of administrative and operational functions directly related to the department of Black Advancement and Engagement. This includes setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Oversees organization and coordination of VP’s:
  • Meetings (scheduling, location, food, supporting materials),
  • -Pre- and post-travel arrangements, itineraries, and modifications
  • Participates in meetings as designated by VP by taking notes, preparing and disseminating minutes, agendas, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinates meetings and events with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serves as focal point and liaison for communications that affect the department; inclusive of but not limited to, preparing necessary files, agendas, following-up on action items and handling various correspondence.
  • Coordinates and maintains the VP’s complex calendar using sound judgment in determining priorities.
  • Creates and oversees complex record-keeping systems and databases.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
