The Costco Membership IT team is looking for an experienced and highly-skilled Full Stack Engineer to join us in creating an exceptional member experience. The individual in this role will be challenged every day to develop and maintain robust products using modern programming languages, frameworks, and infrastructure. ROLE

Increases proficiency and understanding of relational and non-relational databases, distributed application architectures, user interfaces and user experience, quality assurance, security concerns, and business value creation.

Adopts engineering best practices to deliver higher quality and scalable solutions.

Participates in scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, retrospective, showcases/demos, stand-ups, backlog refinement, etc.).

Creates and executes unit tests which validate the code changes made to support the implementation of a user story.

Identifies deficiencies within a product / application’s code base and identifies opportunities to improve overall code quality.

Works with team members to move user stories from the development backlog into testing and provides clarification when needed.

Estimates, plans, and manages all implementation tasks and reports on development progress.

Demonstrates a strong understanding of emerging technologies to support the development of new solutions.

Collaborates with team members (e.g., Systems Architects, Systems Analysts) to define project specifications and release documentation for all phases of the product development cycle from product definition to design, through implementation.

Conducts peer code reviews for the software changes made by other engineers within a team.

Develops, optimizes, and implements well-designed Membership user interfaces for employees and members.

Builds, deploys, and maintains efficient, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs that support new and existing high-performing products/applications.

Participates in all phases of the product development cycle - defining requirements, designing the architecture and application(s), test-driven-development, deployment, maintenance, and ongoing support.

Conducts peer code reviews for software changes made by other team members.

Collaborates and participates in delivery pod scrum ceremonies to complete commitments on time with high quality.

Develops, adopts, shares, and documents engineering standards and practices; mentors/coaches growing team members.

Enhances knowledge of web application development and programming languages.

REQUIRED

3+ years’ of industry experience building large-scale backend systems and frontend interfaces.

2+ years’ of professional C# and JavaScript experience - design, develop, debug, optimize, and implement.

Understanding of the software development process and object oriented programming.

Experience writing high-performance production-quality code, including building REST APIs.

Experience working as part of an Agile team (Scrum, KanBan, Extreme Programming, etc.).

Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience and interest in collaborating with others.

High degree of integrity, accountability, a positive attitude, and willingness to do what it takes to make the team successful.

Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to deliver under pressure.

Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business; able to support off-hours work as required, including weekends, holidays, on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.

Recommended

Computer Science degree.

Previous experience using the .NET, Angular, and Azure frameworks/platforms.

Previous experience working within and understanding microservices architecture and SOAP APIs.

Working knowledge of on-prem and cloud databases (Cosmos, SQL, DB2, etc.).

Familiarity with Costco’s membership business processes.

Familiarity with tools, such as: Azure DevOps, Microsoft VisualStudio Pro, Postman Pro, GitHub, LucidCharts, etc.

Experience teaching, coaching, and/or mentoring others.

Pay Ranges:

Level 2 - $107,500 - $137,500

Level 3 - $127,500 - $162,500

Level 4 - $152,500 - $182,500, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
