Job Summary:
The Graduate Admissions Counselor (Recruiter) is an energetic and highly service-oriented professional who is responsible for growing enrollment for graduate programs offered by Coppin State University. This position includes participation in all graduate recruitment activities, planning, identifying and assisting prospective students, collaborating with graduate faculty and staff, building relationships with potential employers and partner institutions, and fostering community partnerships. The Graduate Admissions Counselor (Recruiter) reports to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary liaison in the recruitment and outreach of prospective graduate students; maintain contact with prospects throughout the admission process using appropriate technology, in-person, and virtual meetings.
- Assist the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies in developing and managing a yearly recruitment plan to increase program awareness, inquiry, and enrollment.
- Create and maintain relationships with schools, businesses, organizations, professional networks, non-profits, and others to identify and cultivate possible recruitment hubs and internship opportunities.
- Collaborate with academic program partners, graduate enrollment management staff and other university administrators to ensure the smooth transition of students from admission to matriculation, including participation in orientation.
- Assist the Dean of Graduate Studies with creation of regular reports concerning status of recruitment and the current enrollment of students across all assigned programs.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Graduate degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum two years of experience in supporting recruitment initiatives, preferably at a university or college, or with corporate clients and adult learners
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication and public speaking skills
- Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, along with interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with diverse constituencies
- Must function as a creative, energetic team player with the capability to work independently, efficiently, and effectively
- Must demonstrate the ability to meet enrollment goals
- Must demonstrate dependability, attention to detail, and follow-through
Physical Demands:
- Requirements are within the general range of an office environment. Daytime travel is necessary. Driver’s license is required.
