Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

About Latham & Watkins

Latham & Watkins is a global law firm consistently ranked among the top firms in the world. The success of our firm is largely determined by our commitment to hire and develop the very best and brightest, creating a team that provides our clients with the highest quality of work and service. We are driven by our core values: respect, innovation, and collaboration.

The Brand & Communications department builds, promotes, and protects the firm’s brand by solving tough problems with strategic and creative solutions. We develop relevant and memorable messaging that amplifies the firm’s vision, and develop stories about the people who make up the firm and its culture to inform, inspire, connect, and engage.

About the role

As a Graphic Designer Lead, you will be responsible for applying core design principles to complex, strategic projects and ensuring that all work is aligned to Latham’s brand and brand guidelines. You must be equally comfortable with responsive design (websites, email, social media, video/motion graphics) and print design. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Leading multiple projects concurrently, delivering results on time, and maintaining a high standard for presentation, quality, and attention to detail
  • Initiating project kick-offs, collecting and codifying critical details for projects, creating informed, impactful solutions, and articulating how the design product answers internal business needs
  • Advising internal clients and others on how to leverage the brand guidelines, contributing to the guidelines, and developing templates and new brand asset styles
  • Shepherding the extension and buildout of high-quality image asset libraries that appear in brand guidelines, and, ultimately, all Latham communications
  • Designing and presenting fresh concepts for digital and marketing materials, including microsites, web pages, social media, presentations, newsletters, brochures, and more
  • Collaborating with colleagues in the Brand & Communications department on a range of creative assignments, often on tight deadlines

About you

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Possess strong presentational skills and an ability to articulate your design methodology to non-creative clients
  • Exhibit knowledge of common design programs including but not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, Invision, Figma, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrate expert typography (kerning, leading, tracking), hierarchy, color application, grids, layout, and accessibility skills

And have:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years as a Senior Graphic Designer in a professional services organization or agency
  • Experience with Content Management and Digital Asset Management systems, digital and social marketing, and web design
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related fields, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience

Successful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance. Eligible employees can participate in Latham’s comprehensive benefit program which includes:

  • Healthcare, life and disability insurance
  • A generous 401k plan
  • At least 11 paid holidays per year, and a PTO program that accrues 23 days during the first year of employment and grows with tenure
  • Well-being programs (e.g. mental health services, mindfulness and resiliency, medical resources, well-being events, and more)
  • Professional Development programs
  • Employee discounts
  • And more!

Additionally, we have a range of diversity programming including Global Affinity Groups. These groups provide a firmwide platform to share experiences and advice as well as an opportunity to participate in a supportive network with common interests to help make life at the firm even better.
