Position: Hardware Product Designer

Pay Range:
$80,000 - $85,000 + equity

Remote

Head of Product

Why we are hiring for this role:
Keeping pace with Chexology's rapid growth, we are seeking a designer who can translate the company's vision for hardware into new products that are aesthetically pleasing and deliver a better user experience. In order to achieve this, we are seeking an Hardware Product Designer to join our team in order to create fully-functional products and come up with innovative ideas. Here's how you'll get there:
  • Identify opportunities for new products
  • Analyzing how a new product ties in with market needs and consumer preferences
  • Setting design requirements based on briefs from internal teams and external stakeholders

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Own development of new and in-market hardware products
  • Strategically evolve and grow existing products and services to constantly deliver a better user experience
  • Identify immediate and/or upcoming user needs, then work with the team to develop a product plan that addresses them
  • Research, plan and produce holistic design concepts and specifications that optimize the physical design across all hardware
  • Help design high volume & high cosmetic plastic and metal parts
  • Create technical specifications of products considering budgets and materials
  • Ensure products are aesthetically pleasing
  • Test and produce product prototypes
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, client success, engineering, marketing, operations and external partners to develop and provide product definitions responsive to client needs and market opportunities
  • Deliver innovative, industry-leading products that align with Chexology's mission and are recognized for their excellence
Must-Haves:
  • 2+ years of experience in leading complex cross-functional projects
  • 1+ years of experience in qualitative and quantitative methodologies to understand client needs, ability to explore and structure client insights into technical requirements
  • Ability to understand technological elements and constraints

Nice-to-Haves:
  • Experience with CAD software/3D modeling software
  • 3+ years of experience in product management or product development type roles
  • Prior knowledge of hardware product management
  • User Design Experience (UX)
  • Project management skills
  • Previous experience working at a start-up
