Your role:

As part of the eCommerce Leadership Team, you will lead the Technology organization of architects, developers, functional analysts, and system administrators that power a multi-billion dollar, global business. This senior-most technologist provides overall leadership and evangelism to ensure we have a secure, scalable, best-in-class architecture, platforms, and tools ecosystem and ensures E2E delivery to drive growth and profitability for the company. The ideal candidate thinks strategically and creatively to find solutions and architectural approaches to deliver amazing customer experiences. Responsible for creating, developing, and operating an agile, product-oriented technology organization.

This position will also be a pivotal member of the eCommerce Leadership team, shaping the organization's overall strategy, priorities, and key initiatives. Reporting to the SVP of eCommerce, the head of technology will work cross functionally to gain alignment, build, manage, and execute the technology vision, strategy, and roadmap.

The technology organization is responsible for:
  • All technical aspects of the our digital and ecommerce product and platform including backend development, database design and administration, security and compliance, system architecture, integration with enterprise ERP systems, customer eProcurement platforms, and financial and accounting, reporting, etc.
  • Global site performance (e.g. uptime, page load speeds, incident resolution times) from monitoring to triage, stakeholder communications, resolutions, through to regular reporting and follow-up communications
  • System Administration (Oracle, Endeca, Adobe Experience Manager, SOLR, MySQL, SFDC, etc), including system to system interfaces (e.g. procurement and EDI systems)
  • Oversight for all connectors - platforms and applications - to our eCommerce business, including Digital Products, Digital Marketing, Data & Analytics, and Commercial/CRM applications
  • Executing, monitoring, and optimizing our release management process, including testing automation and CI/CD, in line with overall programs objectives, to ensure system-wide stability and compliance for both normal and emergency (break/fix) operation, focused on increasing throughput without sacrificing quality
  • Continually reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems as well as evaluating and approving new technologies. Ensuring future vision and roadmap supports scalability, quality, performance, security, maintainability and integrity, and ensure solutions are delivered in alignment with defined architecture strategies and goals
  • Partner closely with Product Managers to combine product and technology roadmaps, driving customer value across all touchpoints

This exciting role is responsible for software product management, architecture, operations, support and budget for a global software engineering organization, and will be highly visible at all levels of the organization. You are first a business leader, who utilizes their passion and expertise for leading edge technologies to build and deliver a powerful, reliable, and scalable digital ecosystem.

Who you are:

Minimum qualifications:
  • 15+ years' software development/platform engineering leadership experience in a fast-growth, global Technology and eCommerce-driven company; experience managing and growing a high performing, large (at least 50 team members, both full-time and contract employees) in globally distributed team of architects, developers, and website operations with a passion for improving team member engagement
  • Executive presence and the ability to collaborate and navigate at all levels within the organization is a key requirement for this role.
  • Collaborative, but with the ability to challenge and hold ground with business leaders, driving consensus and alignment, ultimately facilitating closure of complex issues and decisions.
  • Strategic and data-driven leader with background leading large technical eCommerce transformations; systems thinker and problem solver, able to rapidly analyze and understand customer vision and business objectives
  • Experience leading and working in partnership with Product Management teams in the creation and maintenance of product vision and roadmaps. Driving customer and value centric methodologies across the Product team to build best in class products using Agile methodologies
  • The ideal candidate will have deep experience in delivering value at the intersection of ecommerce, marketing, analytics, and technology
  • Deep understanding of business and technical requirements to build a technology platform that enables digital marketing, user experience that incorporate data science to drive personalization, and adheres to local, global, and corporate requirements around tax, language, invoicing/payments, etc., and provides data-driven business intelligence
  • A track record for selecting, managing and collaborating with contractors and vendors; ability to provide objective and comprehensive recommendations on build vs. buy decisions
  • Responsibility for significant budget, including capex and opex; managing contract licenses of software stack, contractor relationships, and evaluating system contracts
  • Strong business and financial acumen as well as a curiosity that self-motivates keeping a pulse on emerging technologies, industry analysis, and market trends;
