Job Description

SUMMARY

The Inside Sales Representative receives inquiries and orders from sales representatives, distributors, and OEM customers by telephone or mail. Responds to inquiries as to the proper price and delivery schedule. Answers technical and commercial questions and when appropriate, refers technical questions to application engineering or Product Manager. Manages assigned customer relationships. Processes quotes and enters orders with proper price, delivery, and specifications. Responds to expediting calls with order status. Refers requests for literature and assistance to the proper persons. Also handles return goods authorizations and initiates credits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Product cross training is required to prepare for customer inquiries by studying products, services, and customer service processes
  • Responds to customer inquiries by understanding inquiry, reviewing previous inquiries and responses, gathering and researching information, assembling and forwarding information and quotes, verifying customers understanding of information and answer.
  • Handles inbound sales leads to convert calls into sales and overcomes technical and business objections of potential customers. Provides information to engineering by answering questions and requests
  • Maintains and follows up with factory orders, estimates dates of delivery to customer based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules. Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries and the product after shipment.
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations, ensures compliance with all ISO procedures within the order entry process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Critical Competencies

  • Language Skills – The ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical and procedure manuals and government regulations. Ability to write routine reports, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and business correspondences. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees and managers, customers, clients, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School or GED, some College a plus
  • Must have good communication skills and telephone manners
  • Computer literacy is essential
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • 2 years in customer service field
  • SAP experience preferred
