Job Description

The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking ECE Director level staff to lead our Summer Kindercamp Preschool Programs in Boulder.

We are looking for welcoming, motivated, experienced staff, who are 21 years or older. Our camp staff have a genuine love of working with children. They are kind and patient. They have a connection with all things camp: the outdoors, arts and humanities, sports, games, cheers, chants and songs. They are willing to share their passions with campers and staff.

Our goal is for each child to enjoy safe adventures, make new friends and have amazing experiences every day. Come join our camp family for one of the most fun and rewarding summers of your life.

The Kindercamp Preschool Program Director is a seasonal managerial position, but our ideal candidate is more worker bee than queen bee. This position requires someone who has energy, a happy demeanor and strong leadership skills to supervise, teach, nurture and encourage our staff with a balance of empathy, accountability, role modeling and hands-on work. The ideal candidate can lead campers in a funny song, engage campers in various activities and empower staff to find their inner camper.

You might be the right candidate to lead our Kindercamp if...

You are hands-on, engaged, young at heart and mature of mind. You are not afraid to get down and dirty in our playground one moment and then get down and dirty in risk management procedurals the next. You are creative and innovative, ready to ensure our programs are ground-breaking, parent-pleasing and mind-blowingly fun for kids. You think at a high level and have high expectations of your staff, fostering an environment of innovation, positivity and teamwork.

You are a youth development expert. You see the possibility of each child, and you work tirelessly to become their champion, mentor and fun-provider. You know that at the end of the day, all kids should have the opportunity to live to their full potential and you can't wait to help them do so.

Qualifications:

  • Must be ECE Director qualified by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care division or have Credential 3.0 Level 4 or higher.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with Preschool aged/Kindergarten aged children in a supervisory role
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Understanding of child development principals and developmentally appropriate practices, understanding of state licensed program.

Salary range is $22-27/hour based on experience and availability. In addition, we offer a +10% differential for bilingual staff who test as fluent in Spanish and English. You'll serve up to 40 hours a week between 7:00a to 6:00pm M-F with 60% of the time managing camp and 40% of the time in ratio. No evenings. No weekends (except one required weekend training prior to summer camp)! This position is seasonal, but we have year-round openings as our association runs 2 full year licensed preschools.

All YMCA of Northern Colorado part-time staff working 10+ hours each week are eligible to receive a free family membership. Staff who work 10+ hours a week earn 50% to 100% off our programs. That includes free YMCA traditional day camp, youth sports, learn to skate and swim lessons, and half off YMCA Camp Santa Maria overnight camp, personal training, specialty summer camps, and childcare. If you work 20+ hours a week, your benefits grow from there. Sick time is earned from day 1, and we make contributions of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund for eligible staff.

We were founded as the Young Men's Christian Association in 1844. But today, we are The Y, an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people.
