Job Description

EnviroStaff are currently recruiting a Technical Laboratory Director (TLD) who will assist in the management of chemists and support staff for a long standing independent environmental laboratory.

The TLD will be the technical resource for the staff, hire and assist in training new employees, communicate with clients, and ensure compliance with all QA and Certification requirements. The TLD must have extensive experience with an environmental laboratory specific to organic and inorganic, and radiological analysis including SW-846 and other methodologies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Hiring qualified analysts and support staff
  • Maintaining/adjusting workflow to meet Turnaround Time (TAT)
  • Effectively communicate with clients, chemists, project managers, support staff
  • Making recommendations as needed to improve environmental laboratory functionality
  • Supervising staff
  • Maintain and on-going assessment of our environmental Quality Assurance Program
  • Appropriate audits of analysis results and the overall program
  • Prepare and participate in audits
  • Obtain and maintain state and federal analytical certifications including NELAP Accreditation and Ohio VAP
  • Effectively addressing and correcting deficiencies arising from internal and/or external audits, and ensuring that the lab is operating in accordance with NELAC and applicable standards

· Assist in developing new methods as needed

  • Maintain IDOCs for key methods, and assist with analysis, data review, and reporting, when needed to meet obligations to customers
  • Follow company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related life sciences
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managerial position with a contract environmental laboratory
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal environmental certifications/accreditations including NELAP
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster teamwork

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
