Job Summary and Qualifications

Collaborating with faculty and staff, the Student Learning Specialist will assist students with the mastery of material including didactic and clinical learning concepts by provides strategies and academic reinforcement to students throughout their academic program. Working with students individually and in small groups, the Student Learning Specialist assesses learning styles, identifies strengths, and discovers opportunities for academic development. The Student Learning Specialist creates and implements personalized remediation plans for students as they prepare for academic and professional success.

This is a Monday-Friday position - 8am to 4:30PM and is located at Research Medical Center. The successful candidate, in this position, will be someone who knows about evidence-based teaching/learning practices. Someone who enjoys educating other on things like time-management, study skills, tutoring, NCLEX testing strategies etc.

Responsibilities:

• Supports instruction, remediation and evaluation in didactic and clinical learning concepts including patient care
• Trains and supervises students who work as peer tutors and exam proctors
• Supervises academic support staff
• Demonstrates current, detailed, accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN as well as currency in nursing practice
• Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of College academic policies
• Collaborates with track coordinators, course coordinators, and course faculty
• Directs the daily operations of the Personalized Academic Student Success (PASS) program
• Completes other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing required, Master’s Degree in education or nursing preferred
• Must hold a current RN license from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration or an active compact license
• Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate via telephone, computer, and in person
• One (1) year experience in an academic environment supporting classroom instruction or specialized tutoring support preferred
