Leverage your experience into a customer service & sales career with UnitedHealth Group . As a Licensed Customer Service Representative , you'll answer incoming calls from members, prospective members, and providers (no cold calling) to resolve a variety of health care inquiries. You'll solicit basic information, answer questions and provide options while serving as a consultant to help the callers select the right plan for their situation and budget. Don’t wait to join us! This position is full - time (40 hours / week) with our site Hours of Operation from 8:00am – 8:00pm Monday - Friday and 9:00am - 5:30pm Saturday. We require our employees to be flexible enough to work any 8 hour shift during our Hours of Operation. Overtime may be required during our Open Enrollment period (October - December). Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming phone calls from members and assist them by addressing inquiries, which may include: benefit and eligibility information, billing and payment issues, customer material requests, physician assignments, authorization for treatment, and explanation of benefits (EOBs)
  • Ask appropriate questions and listen actively to identify specific questions or issues while documenting required information in computer systems
  • Using knowledge of Medicare products to accurately assess the distinct needs of different prospects, explain the differences between various products, and assist the prospect member in selecting a product that best meets their unique needs
  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone to follow up on questions, or to review current or new products and services
  • Conduct outreach to welcome new members as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher) OR 5+ years of equivalent work experience
  • Must have an Accident & Health Insurance Sales License that is active and in good standing in your state of residence
  • Familiarity with computers and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday - Friday between 8:00am – 8:00pm Monday - Friday and 9:00am - 5:30pm Saturday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

  • Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, determine need and consult with caller to provide appropriate product to fit their needs
  • Flexibility to customize approach to meet all types of caller communication styles and personalities
