Position Summary

Summary:
Responsible for daily activities within the Receiving and Supply Distribution process. Receiving duties including routine clerical duties such as documenting the receipt of items ordered, making deliveries, and researching/resolving receipt discrepancies. Physically inventories designated par level areas daily. Decrements inventory for system generated pick tickets and delivers the supplies to the appropriate department. Fills supply orders for walk-up request forms and orders sent via tube system. Assembles code carts and respiratory boxes. Identifies opportunities to contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost within the organization as well as to patients, customers, and employee satisfaction.

  • Standard Work Duties: Materials Handler
  • Matches delivery slips, packing lists, and receiving reports with items received on a daily basis and checks the accuracy of the in-coming product against the packing slip and notes all discrepancies on a daily basis.
  • Delivers supplies and is responsible for obtaining signatures for all items delivered to the requesting departments reducing proof of Delivery inquiries. Reports the number for items lost, or misplaced while in the control of storeroom personnel.
  • Responsible for return of merchandise within five days after the receipt by Storeroom personnel for shipment outbound. Ensures shipping and storage areas are organized and cleaned at the end of each shift.
  • Processes all regular, certified, bulk and pre-sort outgoing mail through the postage meter on the same day received and records postage usage amounts daily. Sorts and distributes all incoming mail, hospital and in-patient mail each shift. Monitors balance in bulk and prepaid meter accounts weekly to ensure funds are available when needed.
  • Transports/distributes all inter-departmental mail so that mail delivery is continuous and orderly. Transports/distributes lab tests, supplies and reports to clinics and other hospital locations as needed.
  • Performs physical inventory counts at designated areas assigned daily achieving 90% or greater accuracy. Inform a supervisor of changes or concerns arising in par level locations. Reviews supply inventory for outdated products daily.
  • Correctly decrements inventory supplies in CS Storeroom as indicated on pick tickets. Deliver supplies to supporting departments daily. Completes inventory pull check sheets daily indicating the length of time needed to pull supplies for a department.
  • Fills supply orders for stat and walk-up request within one hour of notice. Assemble code carts and respiratory boxes according to established procedures.
  • Verifies deliveries daily on packing documents to ensure correct supplies and quantities have been received into the perpetual inventory. Restocks CS Storeroom shelves daily to maintain adequate supply for pick ticket process
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all equipment and systems/technology necessary to complete duties and responsibilities. Answers telephone in a professional manner and takes action as appropriate

Qualifications & Experience

Education:
Essential:
  • High School or Equivalent



Other information:
Licenses Essential: Valid Florida Driver's License
Experience Essential: Ability to work variable hours to accommodate department coverage.
Experience Preferred: Six months to one year storeroom, inventory or receiving experience or previous experience in purchasing or healthcare environment.
