Job Description:

The Maintenance Operations (MX Ops) Center Shift Manager invests in the future of Southwest’s People in their work leading and championing Southwest’s Maintenance Controllers. This role represents Technical Operations (Tech Ops) in all Bridge Team processes in Southwest’s Network Operations Control (NOC), and they provide strategic Tech Ops information at NOC conference calls. The NOC is Southwest’s world-class operations center that functions as the Heart of major operational decisions and coordination, and the NOC Bridge houses Leaders and Representatives from all operational groups within Southwest. This role represents MX Ops in the NOC, the Bridge, and within NOC conference calls. This Leader provides Legendary Customer Service by ensuring the day-to-day maintenance requirements are satisfied efficiently and in a timely manner in order to support our operation. The MX Ops Center Shift Manager is passionate about supporting and developing our People, and they are excited for the opportunity to drive the future of Southwest Airlines.

Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures related to the responsibilities of the Maintenance Control operation
Interact and coordinate MOC Ops Center requirements with various departments across organizational boundaries to ensure the safest, most compliant, and efficient operation in the Industry
Approve maintenance ferry flights as outlined in the Maintenance Procedures Manual (MPM)
Interact and coordinate Technical Operations involvement with Dispatch, Flight Operations, Inflight Operations, Ground Operations, and other operating groups within Southwest Airlines
Interact and coordinate Technical Operations involvement with Dispatch, Flight Operations, Inflight Operations, Ground Operations, and other operating groups within Southwest Airlines
Perform duties necessary to assist the Senior Manager Maintenance Operations Control in administering On-Call Maintenance Providers
Act as liaison to ensure coordination and cooperation in making tactical operational decisions that may significantly impact planned maintenance requirements
Inform and support directives set forth by Sr Manager and Director Maintenance Operations
Provide direct Leadership to the MX Ops Center Support Supervisor and Field Technician Supervisors
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, Leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of People and resources
Knowledge of Boeing aircraft maintenance
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Knowledge of mechanical knowledge of aircraft and systems
Knowledge of aircraft systems
Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, however it does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
Ability to adhere to SWA Maintenance Program policies and procedures while working under tight time constraints Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
Large commercial aircraft
Management
Preferred: Experience in a Supervisor/Management role – 10 years preferred, but not required.
Preferred: Experience in line maintenance, particularly in a Supervisor/Manager role at a large station is preferred, but not required.
Licensing/Certification
Required: Airframe and Powerplant License
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
