JOB TITLE: Operations- Lean Material Handler

FLSA: Non- Exempt

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Skokie, Illinois

SUPERVISOR: Operations Materials Manager

SUMMARY:

The Lean Material Handler is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within the work site to meet production schedules.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: H.S. Diploma or equivalent


Related Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of full-time related experience in warehouse, manufacturing, mechanical, assembly or equivalent job experience.

  • Experience in picking parts or components from work instructions. Forklift certification.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.


HOURS:

Monday through Friday, full-time with work hours designated by the Supervisor. Team Members are required to work overtime when requested.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of Material Handling.
  • Working knowledge of RF scanner, forklift, and tugger.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relationships with both internal and external guests.
  • Capacity to utilize effective time management skills and be able to work under the stress of multiple deadlines, requests from other departments, and interruptions with accuracy.
  • Ability to follow directions and communicate in English verbally and in writing and to read and understand materials printed in English.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
  • Conveys materials to designated storage areas.
  • Effectively communicate with Table leads to facilitate efficient Material flow.
  • Proactively identify damaged parts and calls immediate attention to it.
  • Follow all safety procedures including proper usage of safety equipment and tools.
  • Must be present in the workplace and demonstrate commitment, dependability, punctuality and adherence to agreed-upon schedule as determined by manager.
  • Supports and exhibits the Visual Comfort Group Company Values.
  • Participate in twice daily ergo exercises

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • General work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting.
  • Exposure to noise distractions from employees or equipment operation in adjacent work areas.
  • Infrequent exposure to cleaning materials. (E.g., copier toner).
  • Parking is provided approximately one block away from building.
