Job Summary

The Manager, IT position within SouthStar Technology Solutions will have overall responsibility for leading teams of analysts, developers, and third-party strategic partners. This position will leverage their supervisory, project management, and industry knowledge to provide technology guidance and support for the SouthStar business owners and their customers. This position will implement strategies and initiatives to enhance existing system capabilities to meet new business directives including mergers and acquisitions. This position will provide support and influence through active participation in customer activities and leveraging technical and business resources from across the organization to ensure the timely delivery and support of effective business solutions. This position will execute application lifecycle strategic plans, change management and communication plans.

Manager- Essential Duties Include

  • Serve as management level interface for groups across Gas Technology Services as well as the SouthStar business
  • Manage relationships with external vendor partners to deliver projects, resources, and production support where necessary.This includes ensuring the proper level of resourcing is provided and agreed upon in advance, vendor additions/terminations are processed as needed, changes to vendor staff are tracked, SLA/SLEs are being met by vendors, quality levels for code and analysis are met by vendors, and vendors are following the Gas Technology Services processes
  • Performance management for the supervisory, including performance appraisals, mentoring, coaching as well as ensuring Supervisors are providing excellent performance management to the staff
  • Provide budgetary oversight.Manage the budget (projects and department) for Southstar Technology services, ensure time is properly reported for both internal and external team members, ensure invoices are properly coded and approved in a timely manner, identify areas for savings throughout the year.
  • Serve as a member of each SSE program’s Project Review Committee and advise the committees on projects timelines and priority
  • Involved in the development of Statements of Work and Project Charters.Work with Supply Chain and Vendor Management to ensure all documents are accurate when written and followed once approved
  • Participates in the purchase and implementation of hardware, vendor technologies, vendor interfaces and support
  • Provide direction to Supervisors to ensure resources are on-hand and effectively utilized; maintaining the ability to ‘flex’ to meet customer demands; ensure a proper resource plan is kept and ensure work is being performed based on priority
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, audits, and change management controls
  • Partners with the Change Management and Communication teams to develop and execute plans for application or business process impacts due to operational or project activity
  • Collaborate and negotiate work assignments for the team to ensure project expectations can be met
  • Attract, develop, retain, and manage a diverse group of supervisory and technical individual contributors
  • Lead, motivate and develop employees; effectively plan and manage projects; apply strong oral and written communication skills; apply strong customer service and negotiating skills; exhibit initiative, and follow through with customer commitments; and apply sound performance techniques
  • Considerable interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively is essential
  • Facilitate technical guidance and direction to software development teams, including developers, contractors, and vendors
  • Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive work plans, work prioritization, and delivery on project commitments
  • Contribute strategic thinking related to how the SouthStar Gas Technology Application group contributes to and supports the Gas Technology Organization

Skills/Experience S

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience with selection, procurement, and integrations of third-party package and custom technology products
  • Experience working with application development methodologies/processes and technologies within the Retail and Commercial Gas business application footprint is a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work with business partners and peers of varying levels of technical proficiency
  • Interest in and passion for learning and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with large scale project development, enhancement projects and production support
  • Ability to identify root cause as well as mitigation required
  • Comprehensive, recognized leadership skills that build relationships and develop a team atmosphere
  • Knowledge of software development technologies, various software languages, methodology and tools
  • Knowledge of the budgeting process and business budget requirements
  • Experience with Agile delivery; Kanban; Scrum, DevOps tools
  • Experience as a multi-tier software developer a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills(Oral and written)
  • Strong ITIL Foundation
  • Applications: Experience providing technical support and maintenance activities with Prime, Safari and Banner systems is a plus
