A National Pavement Maintenance Provider
The Operations Coordinator will support the Director of Operations/Operations Manager in planning, scheduling & coordinating all jobs. It involves working closely with the Sales Team and all the field staff to ensure superior project outcomes.
Black Diamond Paving & Concrete provides pavement maintenance services for commercial, industrial, retail, and multi-family residential markets. Black Diamond Paving has been in business for over 25 years, with its headquarters office located in Northern California and a second office located in Escondido.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the scheduling, and direct day-to-day activities of work crews with established company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Ensure safety of Operations teams. Conduct routing job audits to ensure all safety and environmental policies and procedures are being followed on daily basis.
- Assist in managing weekly production meetings with Concrete, Seal Coat, Paving, and Striping Foremen & Leads.
- Know capabilities and specialties of each of field personnel including foreman.
- Know equipment package and equipment capabilities.
- Provide technical knowledge and expertise for all disciplines (paving, seal coat, and concrete).
- Assist in providing all projects with the appropriate manpower, equipment, resources, and direction required to fulfill project and scope objectives.
- Assist in overseeing crew operations to ensure safe, profitable, and timely execution of quality work.
- Interface with Operations Team to help resolve job site problems if necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage subcontractors on assigned projects as required.
- Help resolve field problems with subcontractors if necessary.
- Assist in the scheduling of jobs with Project Consultants weekly, to include managing the Open Job Report to optimize revenue for the year.
- Ensure job folder flow is well understood, consistent between Project Consultants and timely.
- Ensure timecards are properly prepared for all jobs.
- Optimize job profitability (margin) through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee posting functions and personnel. Schedule and coordinate 1 operational personnel for job postings, openings, and sales support.
Job Requirements/Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels within and outside the organization.
- Must have strong proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet design and maintenance, navigating in databases, and creating presentations.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Requires detail orientation and attention.
- Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work and manage a cross-functional team.
- Ability to fully understand the paving process.
- Ability to use heavy equipment.
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends/holidays as needed to meet deadlines.
- High school diploma or 2-year degree preferred and at least 2 years of experience in a support role.
- Construction experience is preferred.
- Computer skills in MS Office, CRM background, applicable customer service experience.
