Job Position: Payroll Specialist

Job Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports To: Vice President of Human Resources

Job Summary:

The position is a hands-on role that provides payroll specialist support to our corporate office HR staff and when needed, the manufacturing field HR teams. The role is critical in executing our team initiatives, corporate payroll processing, completing audits, writing SOPs and driving HR functional excellence through process improvement.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Full cycle corporate payroll processing to include bi-weekly payroll processing, tax profile compliance, new state tax setup, W-2s, Wage and Hour compliance, EEO-1 and Workers Compensation compliance, year-end and quarter-end payroll processing, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Wage and Hour compliance, timekeeping processes and proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
  • High level, first-hand experience and understanding of year-end and quarter-end payroll auditing and processing.
  • Solid analytical skills with an ability to identify and resolve issues before they become a larger issue, collect data and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensures data integrity in our system (PayCom).
  • Solid year end and quarter end knowledge a must have.
  • Routine audits and maintenance of HRIS systems: tax profile compliance, ACA auditing, I-9 and E-verify auditing, imputed income auditing, updating team-member information, end of quarter and year financial auditing.
  • Creates and distributes daily and weekly reports to identified managers and corporate office.
  • 401k and wage garnishment auditing processing.
  • Creates and distributes customized and standardized reports as needed.
  • Provides team-members with frequent customer service regarding payroll, custom reports, time and attendance, system setup, etc.
  • Completes employment and payroll verifications.
  • Maintains personnel lists, filing and systems for record-keeping of team-member data; Ensures that human resources files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains needed HR spreadsheets related to workers compensation, LOA, turnover, expenses, etc.
  • Updates the payroll internal process and documented procedures as needed.
  • Protects company assets through the proper management of asset files and adherence to company policy with regard to information security and management.
  • Communicates with facility HR Managers.
  • Training and application of SQF methodology to support our business.
  • All other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

  • Planning and Organizing: Demonstrated ability to plan and organize your own work activities; analyze and disseminate numerical data; manage work time efficiently; follow procedures and policies; perform basic mathematical calculations; identify and solve problems; maintain a file system to include alphabetical, numerical, and chronological filing activities.
  • Communication: Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, business writing, grammar and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills, detail oriented, a team player and be highly deadline driven.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Preferred CPP certification.
  • Minimum 3 years (preferred) of Payroll specialist support and payroll processing of multiple states.
  • Previous experience navigating, setting up plans, entering data, entering data sets, creating reports, etc. in an HRIS / Payroll system (PayCom preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Organized, multi-task oriented with high energy is required.
  • Must have advanced technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (including pivot tables and complex reports).
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
