The City of Gulf Shores is taking applications for the Full Time positions of Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic. Under general supervision performs work related to fire suppression, fire prevention education, rescue, hazardous material, and emergency medical services, participates in fire safety and prevention programs.
Minimum qualifications: High school education or equivalent; and up to 6 months of experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and certifications necessary: Current Alabama driver"s license with vessel endorsement. National Registry for EMT Basic and Fire Fighter I or II is preferred. Must have current NREMT-Paramedic License for Paramedic position. Must be willing to work non-standard hours as required
Salary: $51,204.29 - EMT and $59,311.82 - Paramedic, based on 2928 hours annually.
If considered for hire, candidate must be able to pass background check, including motor vehicle report, physical and alcohol/drug screen. In addition, applicants must be able to pass a physical fitness test consisting of: 1.5 mile run to be completed within 15 minutes and 28 seconds, hold a low plank for a minimum of 1 minute and 28 seconds, 25 push-ups to be completed in 1 minute and an untimed 300 yard nonstop swim. Applicants will be notified by email if they are selected to be interviewed for the position of Fire Fighter.
