Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.
Shift
3rd shift; varying hours (e.g. 9:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m., 10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.) 7 days on/7 days off. Includes some weekend and holiday requirements.
Job Summary
The Pharmacist Clinical Staff/Third/UKHC provides pharmaceutical care to patients in an inpatient hospital setting; compounds and dispenses medications upon receiving written (i.e., electronic) orders from physicians; provides supervision of technical staff and confirms the quality and accuracy of dispensed products; maintains inventory and records on narcotics and other forms of drugs; reviews and interprets prescriptions and drug profiles to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed and drug interactions are considered; and contacts and confers with physicians and other practitioners to optimize drug therapy which may include active participation on patient care rounds, review of patient profiles, and provision of pharmacokinetics.
The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $129,697/year. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.
This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (
CMS
). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal
CMS
mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of
COVID
-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full
COVID
-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.

PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
