Physical Therapist Assistant, Inpatient
We are looking to add a dynamic
Physical Therapist
Assistant to our team! At VHC Health, the rehabilitation clinicians work in departments across the hospital with the opportunity to treat patients with a wide variety of diagnoses. Patient populations include orthopedic, oncology, cardiac, medical/surgical, neurology, ICU, and trauma. Our department values continual learning and evidence based practice. Another factor that adds to the team’s success is that we have a solid onboarding process, which includes a new hire mentorship program. We also have a high level of collaboration amongst fellow coworkers. To make sure we are providing the most for patients, the Rehabilitation Department is actively involved in care coordination rounds and is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team.
Our inpatient therapists are involved in hospital-wide initiatives to provide the best patient care, including safe mobility promotion, delirium prevention, wound prevention, and improving outcomes with trauma, post- operative, and stroke patients. Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant required.
- One year of Physical Therapy experience preferred.
- Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a physical therapist assistant required.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification required
- Able to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
- Computer experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Critically reflects on information, knowledge, experience, and evidence to follow a comprehensive physical therapy POC, which is individualized and focused on patient and caregiver goals and circumstances.
- Assesses outcomes of interventions provided and adapts techniques as needed, based on a patient’s cognition, culture, communication needs, learning style and/or physical response
- Specialty skills for PTA include, but are not limited to, the following: orthotic and prosthetic management and training, fitting of compression garments, use of real time ultrasound, taping/bandaging techniques, use of specialty equipment, care of medically complex and critically ill patients
- Notes significant clinical data, investigates further, communicates with the physical therapist, physician or other appropriate non-physician provider accordingly and documents communication correctly.
