Job Description

  • BS degree in Computer Science with 10+ years of relevant, broad engineering experience required
  • Proven track record of leading the delivery of large-scale, high-quality systems focused on the infrastructure and platform layers of the technology stack
  • Demonstrated passion for customer experience and usability, including successful delivery of customer self-service tools and automated management/optimization of services, and a strong services orientation
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise in building distributed ML infrastructure in the Cloud and building online inference services with high throughput and low latency
  • Knowledge in at least one of the deep learning frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, or MXNet
  • Experience working with applied scientists to improve deep learning model performance
  • Experience managing complex projects, with significant bottom-line impact
  • Experience leading development life cycle process and best practices
  • Experience with Agile Management (SCRUM, RUP, XP)
  • Experience mentoring/training an engineering community on complex technical issues
The Discovery and App Experience Team is responsible for inspiring and delighting customers, by helping them discover products they love. We’re looking for a seasoned software leader to drive critical technical decisions across our programs, own key architectural designs for the future of our products/services, and to partner with technical stakeholders to influence and impact Amazon-wide platforms. This role will involve strategic and tactical operation, across both backend and customer-facing systems. You will have an opportunity to mentor and guide engineers, and to help drive/promote a high passion culture for rapid innovation at major scale.

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer science
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as a principal-level software engineer
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $160,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $311,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
