Who We are Looking For:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time water resources engineer or hydrogeologist with numerical modeling experience interested in developing innovative solutions to challenging groundwater-related projects and managing successful project teams. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide array of water resources projects and provide services to local, state, and federal clients throughout California and beyond.
The selected candidate will have experience in integrated water resources modeling and planning, the ability to conduct field activities and hydrogeologic assessments, exceptional communication skills, the ability to interact with clients and stakeholder groups, and experience managing and leading projects and project teams. This position can sit in our Sacramento or Walnut Creek, CA location, and a hybrid work arrangement may be accommodated.
What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:
  • Supervising and managing groundwater planning activities related to water supply, water source vulnerability, and groundwater resource management.
  • Leading and overseeing the development, calibration, and application of hydrogeologic conceptual and groundwater flow models for application to water resources projects.
  • Interpreting model results to support policy and regulatory processes.
  • Analyzing borehole, cross sectional, water level, pumping, and elevation data using GIS, Excel, and other software applications to create hydrogeologic conceptual models.
  • Leading complex data analysis related to water resources management, including:
    • Compiling, processing, and analyzing hydrogeologic data using spreadsheets, database, GIS, graphing software, and computer programming.
    • Evaluating surface operations, including land use analysis and quantifying agricultural and urban water supplies and demands.
    • Preparing data summaries and graphics, presentations, technical reports and memoranda.
    • Developing tools using code such as Python to support, visualize and analyze groundwater modeling projects.
What You Will Need To Succeed:
  • BS in Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or a related field, MS/PhD preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with an engineering consulting firm, public agency, or other water resources field.
  • State registration as a geologist, hydrogeologist, or professional engineer is desirable.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with programing languages such as Python for data analysis and visualization.
  • Extensive experience working on water resources, groundwater and/or closely related projects; specific experience with local, and regional modeling is highly desirable.
  • Current or prior knowledge of California regulations preferred.
  • Experience with hydrologic modeling platforms such as CA Department of Water Resource’s Integrated Water Resources Model (IWFM) and/or US Geological Survey’s MODFLOW models is desirable.
  • Knowledge of hydrogeological field work and related analytical skills is desirable.
  • Knowledge and practical experience evaluating water supplies and demands, as well as conducting other complex water resource assessments.

Compensation
Pay:
This position’s anticipated pay range is provided below; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
Annual Incentive Bonus Opportunity:
Eligible positions may receive an annual cash bonus based on the role’s organizational level, and is represented as a percentage range of eligible earnings**
Pay Range
$91,582.00 - $137,373.00

Time away from work:
  • Vacation time is provided to full and part-time regular employees. Vacation is accrued, based on number of hours worked per week as well as prior years of experience.
