Performs routine maintenance of recycling and waste management equipment including trash dumpsters, compactors, hailers, vertical packers, trailers, cardboard containers, roll off containers by inspecting, painting, repairing, replacing, cleaning and lubricating fittings; replacing wheels and other mechanical parts; inspecting for holes and leaks in containers; checking hydraulics, seals, electrical hookups, lids and bottoms of containers; performing necessary preventive maintenance and repairs; developing or implementing a planned maintenance schedule; physically observing equipment; identifying the need for cleaning, repairing and/or servicing equipment; maintaining a detail log of planned maintenance work performed; communicating problems to appropriate personnel; making recommendations regarding the planned maintenance program to provide for, as well as assist in, corrective action prior to necessary emergency action and ensures that any planned or corrective maintenance work is planned and scheduled with other supervisors and other staff.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and 1 year directly related trade experience.
Driver’s License Required

Experience with waste industry equipment
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge and skills in operating a variety of heavy equipment including: Tractors, dump trucks, pick up trucks, cars, container delivery vehicles, compactors, bailers, vertical packers, trailers, pressure cleaners. Knowledge of safe practices relevant to equipment operation and construction. S. C. driver’s license is required. Ability to exercise initiative and be proactive in performance of duties.
