Overview:

Provides direct patient care to infant through geriatric patient populations. Functions in the expanded perioperative nursing role as a first assistant. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory. Participates in performance improvement activities. Assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met. Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure. Coordinates with Surgery Supervisor regarding staffing and education needs.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 3 years experience in the operating room.
  Skills as an RNFA in the preoperative setting: focused preoperative nursing assessments, communicating and collaborating with other helath care providers regarding patient's plan of care.
  
  Skills as an RNFA in any surgical setting including using surgical instruments and medical devices, providing surgical site exposure, handling and/or cutting tissue, providing hemostasis, suturing.
• Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
• License: current RN license in our state
• Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certification
