Job Summary

The UPS Supply Chain Solutions Remote Clearance Agent will gain entry-level knowledge of Customs Brokerage, Import/Export experience and will be familiar with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), customs regulations and Partnering Government Agency (PGA) clearances.

Responsibilities

• Prepares customs entries and forwarding freight to designated locations; involves interface with international and domestic carriers, overseas offices, and importers
• Communicates documentation discrepancies to client and supervisor
• Prepares Customs entries and follow-up with the clearance process on all entries prepared
• Coordinates freight delivery to designated locations
• Resolves finance and accounting reconciliation exchange issues
• Demonstrates responsibility for filing entries to customs via the Brokerage Operations Support System (BOSS) in a timely and accurate manner
• Scans entries into the Image Management (IM) system meeting allotted and sensitive time requirements
• Prepares reports/presentations and analysis using various software packages and databases
• Reviews document and assess for accuracy, verifying country of origin/export, Importer of Record (IOR), terms of sale and value to ensure that compliance and federal regulation requirements are achieved
• Follows up on documentation discrepancy issues which requires the ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers and foreign origins
• Establishes and maintains client relationships

Preferences

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Possesses basic Computer skills
• Displays ability to multitask and gives strong attention to detail
• Demonstrates intermediate communication (verbal/written) skills
• Displays ability to project a professional image to the customer and to represent UPS SCS in a positive manner
• Customs Brokerage experience
