Phase Two Chemicals is a team of electrochemical engineers and entrepreneurs developing electrochemical systems based on the company’s advanced air electrode. Our first product is a hydrogen peroxide generator that is lower cost and more sustainable than conventional chemical synthesis. We are also expanding into energy storage applications.
We are seeking a research engineer to join our R&D team based in Lowell, MA. The researcher will collaborate with other R&D personnel to facilitate the development of the company’s metal-air energy storage concept. Candidates with experience in metal/metal-slurry electrodes are strongly preferred.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop electrochemical test protocols to characterize electrodes & cell designs
Participate in cell design activities
Synthesize and screen materials for energy storage application
Design and execute experimental studies
Provide periodic technical progress reports
Contribute to company operations on an as-needed basis
Collaborate with members of our international team on a regular basis
Qualifications and desired characteristics:
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering (non-Ph.D. with relevant experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
Research background in electrochemistry required; experience with metal electrodes strongly preferred
Experienced in troubleshooting laboratory equipment & set-ups
Comfortable with hands-on, collaborative laboratory work
Detail oriented and self-motivated with strong communication skills
