What to Expect
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technicians are a critical part of the EHS team at Tesla. Reporting to the EHS lead within a specific line of production, the EHS Technician is involved in a wide range of work across multiple EHS programs. The EHS Technician supports day-to-day operations by handling floor EHS inspections, improving employee engagement, collecting and recording EHS information, and driving continuous improvement of overall EHS processes and systems.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor to engage with shop stakeholders and associates to foster a robust safety culture
- Perform Job Hazard Assessments and help develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Review SOPs and work practices to identify any safety concerns Support EHS Specialists in safety team meetings Order, coordinate delivery and stock safety supplies (PPE, first aid kits, eyewash stations, etc.)
- Develop and install safety signage (emergency evacuation maps, safety one pagers)
- Support Lockout/Tagout program with labeling, training verification, and lock distribution
- Submit and track EHS actions items and facility/maintenance work orders
- Deliver basic training sessions and EHS information flow down sessions
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly EHS inspections (dock, ergonomics, shop specific) and input data into EHS databases
- Address, document, and support safety concerns on the floor and in writing
- Organize, file, and maintain safety documentation (e.g., training records, meeting minutes)
- Support light-duty job placement assessments
- Collect environmental data in the field to support compliance programs
- Ensure all documentation is collected for incident reports
- Review and upload chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) to electronic library
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or GED Associates Degree or higher level education preferred
- Minimum 3 years or more of work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of general manufacturing safety
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Able to rapidly respond to employee health emergencies and activate emergency procedures
- Available for second or third shift schedule along with weekend work as needed
- Well organized, excellent attention to details and a passion for all things Environment, Health and Safety
- Evidence of exceptional ability: Clear communication, teamwork, problem solving skills, and ability to adapt quickly to changes
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs daily
- Ability to climb stairs
