Job Description

The Sales Development Representative will be responsible for facilitating the sale of products or services in a physical retail store location. Responsibilities including organizing, presenting, quoting, marketing, and selling goods to customers in the store and over the phone.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Opening the store at the beginning of operating hours and closing it at the end of operating hours
  • Scanning items for customers and making sure they found what they were looking for
  • Operating a cash register and POS system
  • Counting out the correct change when tendering cash
  • Coordinate customer deliveries
  • Cleaning and maintaining the store environment
  • Monitoring inventory
  • Stocking shelves and notifying management when a product is running out
  • Assist in ordering additional stock when there is a shortage in the yard
  • Communicating with customers over the phone and in person, answering all questions they have about products and the store
  • Keeping aware of what types of products are in the store and making recommendations to customers
  • Cold calling
  • Maintaining customer database
  • Recommending another store location or helpful alternative when the store does not carry the product a customer is looking for
  • Deferring to store management when a customer issue proves too difficult to handle independently
  • Following Company procedures like dress code, customer etiquette, safety regulations, and other precautions and requirements
  • Lifting heavy items when necessary
  • Engaging in appropriate behavior at all times, representing the business in a positive light
  • Processing returned items
  • Completing tasks as delegated by store management
  • Other duties that may be assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the building materials industry or retail, preferred
  • Cashier experience a plus
  • Sales driven mindset
  • Excellent customer service
  • Great communication
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Must be a team player

  • Constantly required to use hands to operate a computer and keyboard, and other office equipment
  • On occasion, required to remain seated for extended periods of time, with frequent walking, standing, or bending and most of the time being out in the yard assisting customers at the retail locations
  • Required to have personal mobility, manual dexterity and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to access the general environment at the retail locations
  • Constantly required to communicate in writing, in person, and over the phone
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • May travel to assist other retail locations, attend product training, and meetings as required
