Overview

The Integrative Omics (IO) group at PNNL has a Biomedical Scientist II position available for developing and applying advanced mass spectrometry-based targeted proteomics, data-independent acquisition (DIA), and immunopeptidome capabilities in cancer research. The Integrative Omics group develops and applies cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based technologies and methods for quantifying proteins/peptides, post-translational modifications, and metabolites in studies of health and disease, the environment, and general systems biology.


Responsibilities

In this role, the candidate is expected to become a technical leader in the areas of cancer biomarker development and cancer/testis antigen and neoantigens analysis, and maintain a strong working relationship with a diverse team of staff to accomplish project goals of major cancer research programs at PNNL. Cancer proteomics is one of the major focuses of the IO group and we are seeking candidates with strong expertise in targeted proteomics, DIA and immunopeptidomics, including assay and method development, as well as data analysis for large-scale, highly sensitive, and robust proteomics analysis of clinical specimens.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Leads or contributes to specific sample, instrument, and data analysis tasks in order to meet project deliverables.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff and interns with mentoring as appropriate.
  • Continues to expand technical expertise and advance technologies and methods while working in a highly interdisciplinary team-based environment.
  • Leads or contributes to the preparation of reports, manuscripts, posters, presentations, etc.
  • Lead or contributes to the development of new projects.
  • Maintains organized working condition, and an accurate record keeping.
  • Adheres to safety and security requirements, as well as directorate/group policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BA and 2 years of relevant experience -OR-
  • MS/MA -OR-
  • PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or closely related fields with an emphasis on applications of targeted proteomics, immunopeptidome, or other cancer-related areas.
  • Significant experience with targeted proteomics, immunopeptidomics, protein quantification, protein posttranslational modification, LC-MS analysis, and large-scale data analysis.
  • A sustained track record of disseminating research through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within and across institutions.
