JOB DIMENSIONS:

TOTAL Energies Renewables USA, LLC (“TERUSA”) has set ambitious targets to develop/acquire, construct, operate and own (i) solar utility-scale power plants (UPP), with both public and private offtakers; and (ii) energy storage systems (ESS), around the world. The U.S. is a key market to achieve these targets, and our goal is to aggressively establish a sizable UPP & ESS portfolio, both through greenfield development & strategic acquisitions.

TERUSA is seeking a Senior civil Engineer to provide technical engineering guidance for utility-scale photovoltaic solar and energy storage projects from development through construction. The successful candidate will assist in due diligence on potential project acquisitions, provide technical guidance through development, work with a project team during EPC engineering and construction phases to solve technical issues. This position will be based in Houston, TX and report directly to the Pre-construction Director. The role requires the ability to effectively monitor and present recommended guidance to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.

ACTIVITIES:
  • Enforce Total Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policy in all his/her responsibilities and ensure that external third parties (EPC firms, consultants.) operate in a manner acceptable to Total HSE standards
  • Serves as lead civil engineer on multiple complex renewable energy projects.
  • Contract directly with 3rd party vendors for geotechnical studies and site surveys.
  • Use CAD software to provide site layouts and conceptual designs to support both BESS and solar projects.
  • Establishes technical specifications and reviews portions of EPC and supply RFP and contract documents.
  • Prepares and reviews specifications and construction documents for low, medium, and high voltage electrical power facilities.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential solar sites, evaluate the suitability of identified sites and participate in due diligence review.
  • Interface with an internal team of project engineering, asset management, legal and accounting staff as well as deliverables of EPC, client, regulatory and permitting authorities.
  • Ensure project quality control by conducting on-site inspections as needed, coordinating with 3rd party independent engineering.
  • Assist with the development of internal operating policies, standards and procedures.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Support the execution of Total Energies renewable energy pipeline
  • Accountability for safety and project execution.
  • Managing all 3rd party civil vendors
  • Working with the development teams to support early stage engineering.

Candidate profile

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Undergraduate Degree in civil engineering.
  • At least 3 years professional experience in solar or wind engineering required.
  • At least 5 years of civil engineering experience is required
  • Require familiarity with photovoltaic solar design, storm water design and technical standards as well as value engineering knowledge.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, CAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, capable of leading efficiently and outperforming assigned objectives.
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by clear and effective project plans and executive level reporting that ensure timely action and decision making in time-pressured scenarios.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 5%, on average.
  • Energy storage knowledge a plus.
  • US work permit
