Their Data Science Analytics team tackles major opportunities for operational efficiency and revenue generation at Company and deploys these models across environments where they re-shape the way we work. The Senior Data Scientist will have exposure to the leadership to support decision making and business strategy for the revenue management, sales, marketing, and customer experience organizations. We are seeking a curious, proactive, and innovative Data Scientist who has a proven ability to understand and drive business results with their data-based insights. S/he enjoys and has experience blending various datasets, coding, building/deploying statistical/econometric/mathematical/machine learning models with constant collaboration with our business partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization and translate business partners’ needs into analytic projects and make technical decisions based on the tradeoff between complexity and value.
  • Drive projects, individually and collaboratively, through the data science/analytic lifecycle including problem identification and definition, data collection, exploration/analysis, model development, validation, and deployment.
  • Support implementation and help drive adoption.
  • Seek, build, and consolidate data inputs proactively to create and improve models.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Apply statistics, econometrics, machine learning, time series, optimization, and critical thinking to solve complex business problems.
  • Develop presentations to communicate key messages to senior sponsors, non-technical partners, fellow data scientists, and other stakeholders.
  • Work with technical partners to deploy models and streamline the process to scale our work.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • S. degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research).
  • Master’s or PHD in Statistics or Applied Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics with Statistics or Quantitative Research concentrations.
  • 4+ years of experience manipulating data sets and building analytics models.

Technical Skills
  • Programming: compose clean, efficient, and reusable code in SQL, Python and/or R. Other languages will be considered with the expectation to transition to SQL, Python and R.
  • Statistical Analysis and Inference: You will need a strong background in statistics, econometrics, or experimental economics. You will use your skills to investigate trends, patterns, and relationships using statistical methods (including simulation) and tests to reach actionable conclusions and understand causal relationships. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated experience with advanced statistical models such as Logistic Regressions, nonlinear modeling, Bayesian, impact analysis, empirical and quantitative research, design of experiments, instrumental variables, violations to OLS, Time Series, etc.
  • Machine Learning / Modeling: The candidate must understand what types of algorithms to use, their benefits and drawbacks, and how to implement them.
  • Data Wrangling: write efficient SQL/R/Python queries from scratch that blend data from a variety of sources in the right form for modeling, analysis, and scoring.
  • Data visualization: bring data-driven stories to life through visuals.
  • Microsoft products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Collaborative: mentor and work with fellow Data Scientists, analysts and business partners.
Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience with business analytics and customer segmentation.
  • A graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative field.
  • Proficiency using git for version control, collaboration, and releases.
  • Expertise with cloud services like AWS (EC2, Kubernetes, SageMaker, S3, etc.) and Snowflake.
