Whip Media is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Data team. You will be the primary driver of all data science and machine learning initiatives for our data products. This will include translating our business goals into improvements for our B2B products as well as helping develop new ideas and products. We are looking for someone talented and versatile who loves to play with the latest technologies yet still delivers reliable and efficient systems. This role is fully remote. However, it is a plus if you are based in Los Angeles and are available for occasional in person meetings in the Santa Monica office.

What You Will Do:

• Translate our business strategy into a data science and machine learning vision; then digest that vision into short/long term plans on how we get there
• Create, maintain, and iterate on algorithms and machine learning systems which power data products generating millions of dollars in revenue
• Work closely with product management, engineering, and data insights teams to ensure we are driving the right metrics for our larger business. This may include work on predictive models, mobile user personas, and A/B testing
• Participate in the larger data science initiatives throughout the company

What You Will Bring:

• 3+ years working as a Senior/Lead Data Scientist
• History of leading projects alongside other functions that produced game-changing work
• Experience developing complex algorithms/data products, extensive knowledge on recommendation systems preferred
• Experience with statistical analysis of raw data
• Background in designing and instituting “production quality” machine learning algorithms
• Deep understanding of PySpark, MLflow, Spark SQL and other ML toolkits
• Ability to write complex SQL queries and a strong understanding of relational databases
• PhD degree in applied scientific or a related technical field preferred

(*NY, CA, and CO only*) The anticipated annual base salary for this position in NY, CA, and CO is $140,000 to $170,000 + discretionary bonus. Additionally, you will be eligible to participate in our company’s equity program, plus our robust medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits.
