As a CO+I Senior Network Engineer, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. We are looking for a passionate individual to help build the network that powers the world’s largest online services. For this position, the candidate should be familiar with network protocols, network devices including network interface cards, switches, and routers. You should feel comfortable working with large-scale distributed systems, in managing the network infrastructure that supports the Azure Cloud infrastructure as well as in designing and building the large-scale distributed systems that manage the network.

Perform technical analysis and lead the design architecture of network plans for the enterprise, analyzing network & security requirements of the business and architects’ solutions that include highly available and resilient designs.- Be an expert in Network, Cloud, and Cyber security disciplines, including proficiency in one or more programming languages (preferably python).
- Install, upgrade, and maintain network or security hardware and operating system and software as needed, leveraging automation.
- Oversee complex infrastructure network or security projects, including design, deployment, and monitoring.
- Perform complex incident management and problem resolution for network and security systems.
- Handle Layer 3 technologies, including IPv4, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IPv6, HSRP, and VRRP.
- Apply strong technical knowledge of enterprise networking solutions for very large environments, at scale, e.g., MPLS/BGP, routing, switching, SDN/NFV, EVPN VXLAN.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Background Check Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with designing and implementing network architectures that include hybrid Cloud/on-prem deployments.
- Excellent IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP/Routing protocols (i.e., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/UDP, IPSEC/MACSec, HTTP/HTTPS).
- Comprehensive troubleshooting skills across the OSI layer (Switching, Routing, and application/layer 7 Firewalls).
Cloud Network Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
