The Senior Turnaround Event Advisor is responsible for the planning and execution of all work scope for the assigned unit(s). This involves leading the core team through scope development, planning, procurement, and execution in accordance with and tracking against expected milestones.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for leading the scope development, detailed planning, execution planning, contractor validations, and field cconstruction phases.
  • Leads the Unit Core Team and ensures effective communication throughout phases.
  • Responsible for leading the schedule optimization and SIMOPs exercises to ensure the unit schedule is achievable, safe, and fully aligned with the execution plan.
  • Create unit-wide crane and equipment requirement schedule.
  • Provides input into execution planning, such as with HSSE and logistics considerations.
  • Supports the development of contractor bid packages.
  • Supports the development and validation of contractor final direct and indirect budget allowances.
  • Prior to execution this position leads the onboarding of the broader unit TAR team members, facilitates scope reviews and prepares for pre-Turnaround execution.
  • Conducts and prepares information for readiness assessment and risk reviews and implements recommendations and recovery plans to ensure success of the event.
  • Responsible for pre-Turnaround work execution and progress to ensure scope does not push into the TAR duration.
  • Responsible for driving safe, quality, and efficient execution of the scope.
  • Leads the effort to review and validate job packages for execution.
  • Responsible for ensuring the field execution of planned Turnaround scope matches the schedule.
  • Participates and ensures a proper alignment of field teams for high complexity or high-risk scope items.
  • Mitigates any issues and manage change within their authority, while escalating items that require support from technical team or site management.
  • Leads the field coordinators through execution challenges, delays, discovery work and other obstacles.
  • Assists in resolution and reassigning of labor due to delays and/or discovery work. Resolves and/or escalate any issues for field coordinators or contractors, making sure critical activities are getting required resources.
  • Leads the start-of-shift meeting for their assigned area, focusing on aligning the teams around HSSE, quality, schedule and priorities.
  • Monitors work and ensures execution is occurring per the schedule; determine root cause of any issues and professionally leads resolution or elevation to the appropriate level.
  • Verifies contractor daily manpower requirements deliver the plan based on productivity factor analysis.
  • Responsible for accurate reporting from contractor to the scheduler for both critical and non-critical path work.
  • Monitors change request process and ensures approved changes are fully communicated to field coordinators and contractor teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring the field coordinators are participating in the scope line-item completions process and ensuring the punch list items generated from this process are being closed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for driving resolution of execution and material questions (RFIs) and concerns to assigned Planner before any change or field directives are progressed.
  • Responsible for the unit cleanliness before contractor demobilization, ensuring punch list items are completed and lessons learned are documented.
Qualifications:
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management or an Engineering discipline would be an asset
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in turnaround, construction and/or maintenance planning and/or execution
  • Experience successfully leading planning and construction of complex, critical scope to meet challenging business requirements working across a large organization
  • Proven track record of excellence leading a strong HSSE culture and performance
  • Working knowledge of construction and TAR processes
  • Strong communications, interpersonal and teambuilding skills
  • Refinery or relevant industry experience and familiar with industry practices, codes, and standards
  • Previous supervisory / team leader experience considered an asset
  • Budgeting experience considered an asset
