SUMMARY:
The Shipping Manager is responsible for daily shipping and inventory management for all shipments of Costco Auto Program marketing collateral to Costco warehouses. The individual will participate in strategic development of new processes and tools to improve efficiencies of the department. This role will direct and manage all aspects of the shipping department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages all shipping and logistics, warehouse, transportation and vendor relations
- Hires and trains all Shipping staff
- Responsible for managing and mentoring employees by coaching, developing and administering Performance reviews and Performance Improvement Plans
- Responsible for efficient scheduling of staff and coordination of duties
- Direct, optimize, and coordinate full order cycle
- Aggressively negotiate rates with vendors & monitor rate changes both in the U.S. and Internationally (UK and Canada)
- Compiles records of unfilled orders
- Responds to phone calls/emails according to department standards
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas
- Improve shipping support/structure in ADGnet (work with Ops Department and WMS Leadership)
- Ensures adequate inventory levels of packing/shipping supplies
- Audits shipping invoices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules
- Oversee weekly employee meetings to prioritize department goals and ensure ongoing open communication
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
- Creates and requests approval for all Purchase Orders related to Marketing collatoral and supplies
- Quality control and oversees standard operating procedures within the Shipping department
- Posts weight and shipping charges, prepare bills of lading, maintain receiving records and purchase orders
- Maintains metrics and analyzes data to assess performance and implement improvements
- Maintains good working relationships with vendors
- Develop new strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost
- Ensures organization of warehouse, label goods, plot routes, processes shipments, documents shipments and tracking.
- Continuously reviews and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency
- Research new materials/opportunities for marketing support
- Maintains/Updates in shipping/training manual.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years in Logistics, Warehouse management or Shipping and Receiving with 3 years in a Supervisory role or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven experience managing people and processes
- International shipping knowledge (UK and Canada) – Customs, etc.
- Highly organized and excellent follow-up skills
- Strong attention to detail, adapatable to change, flexibility and ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities as needed
- Must be able to multi-task in a rapidly changing environment
- Excellent Oral and Written communcation skills with all levels of team members both internally and externally
- Accountability for work, communication and results
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with team members and vendors
- Must be able to work autonomously with limited supervision
- Firm grasp of supply chain inventory, distribution, business, and management principles
- Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge (Excel, Word, PPT, Teams, etc.) – specifically will use excel often
