Duties

This position supports ASH in accomplishing mission critical responsibilities and key agency goals and objectives through the performance of administrative, program support, and technical duties.

The incumbent will apply experience and detailed knowledge of policies, processes, and procedures governing the issuance of identification media to plan and accomplish tasks. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate considerable independence in planning time, and coordinates only as needed with a manager or senior specialist to prioritize tasks and use assigned resources. Assists managers and other employees in day-to-day operations and may act as a lead for other support and technical staff to coordinate multiple assignments.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides technical leadership to Personal Identification Verification (PIV) card holders and various organizations with AIT (FICAM, Helpdesk, Cloud, Active Directory, etc.) in analyzing PIV cards to provide solutions in resolving information technology and physical security related issues with the usage of the PIV card. This involves implementing various technical analysis methodologies, proof of concept implementations, and advanced test methods. Assists applicants with the registration, enrollment and life-cycle processes for the PIV card. Provides hands-on training to new field Trusted Agents and provides hands-on refresher training to existing Trusted Agents.

Provides PIV-related recurring presentations to senior management and union representatives on the process for obtaining and usage of the PIV card for both Physical and Logical Access.

Assists facility managers on programming PIV Cards to be used with the agency's Physical Access Control System (PACS). This includes remotely connecting to a facility's access control system to analyze issues with PIV cards and updating the access control system to correct the issues determined during the analysis. Works in support of Personnel Security Specialists (PSS) and may be required to assist in some PSS duties. Provides support to Facility Security Specialists, FAA headquarters offices, and/or other remote facilities to implement IT-based identity and access procedures and processes as identified. Recommends changes to managers to improve efficiency in ID media operations. Demonstrates effective customer service skills to diffuse difficult situations and maintain a positive attitude when dealing with customers. Provides other administrative and technical support as directed by management. Work is reviewed sporadically to ensure timeliness and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or work activities.
