Job Description


The Coordinator is responsible for preparing and submitting credentialing applications and supporting documentation for the purpose of medical staff and allied health professional credentialing and health plan credentialing. The Coordinator follows up on the status of applications, tracking progress on all pending and completed work. The Coordinator manages their own duties and functions independently, maintaining a high quality for detail and timeliness.


Qualifications


Education & Training
:

  • High school diploma or equivalency is required.
  • Some college experience is preferred.
  • Must have CPCS or CPMSM certification or be willing to attain certification within 18 months of hire.

Work Orientation & Experience:

  • Minimum of One (1) year previous experience in medical staff administration is required.
  • Three (3) years’ previous experience in medical staff administration is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of credentialing, Joint Commission regulations, and state requirements.
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively with medical staff and hospital personnel.
  • Adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of administration and the medical staff.
  • Utilize computer/word processing skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Demonstrate effective critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Display strong composition and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Gather and coordinate required information under strict timelines required to meet credentialing requirements.
