Job Description
The School of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics is hiring (3) part-time student mentors in science and (3) part-time student mentors in mathematics to support underrepresented students with near-peer mentoring, guidance & advice, and STEM-enrichment activities. Funding for the student mentors is from the Southern Nevada Northern Arizona - Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (SNNA-LSAMP) funded through the National Science Foundation (NSF). The goal is to increase the quantity and quality of students successfully completing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degree programs.
Duties will include the following:

• Work with the Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics Departments to identify students who would benefit from participation.
  
• Meet with students for 6-8 hours a week as determined by mutual scheduling.
  
• Direct students to faculty advisors, academic advisors, and counselors as appropriate.
  
• Assist student groups with connection to STEM-enrichment activities and information.
  
• Help with science demonstrations and preparation for events like the CSN Science Expo, ACS Chemistry Olympiad, and other special events.
