While our library covers everything from classic fiction to contemporary graphic novels, we’re currently hiring skilled writers to contribute specifically to our nonfiction department. Our ideal candidate is a highly skilled writer with a passion for reading and the ability to analyze and summarize nonfiction texts. Our writers bring an analytical lens and approachable style to each study guide they write, utilizing their specialized training or interests to write about titles ranging from self-help books to political histories to philosophical essay collections. . We're looking to develop long-term relationships with writers who want to contribute to our growing team while maintaining a flexible schedule.

About the study guides:

  • Our study guides are 5,000-25,000 words, depending on the length and complexity of the text at hand.
  • Study guides include a balanced combination of summary and analysis, including chapter summaries and analyses, themes, index of terms, literary or rhetorical devices, and more.
  • Political/Government books we’ve covered Hope in the Dark (Rebecca Solnit), How the Word is Passed (Clint Smith), and Just and Unjust Wars (Michael Walzer)
  • Philosophy books we’ve covered include Race After Technology (Ruha Benjamin), Being and Nothingness (Jean-Paul Sartre), and Descartes’ Error (António R. Damásio)
  • Autobiography books we’ve covered include Being Heumann (Judith Heumann), Discovering Wes Moore (Wes Moore), and My Stroke of Insight (Jill Bolte Taylor)
  • Psychology books we’ve covered include Behave (Robert Sapolsky), Tribes (Seth Godin), and The Interpretation of Cultures (Clifford Geertz)
  • Self-help books we’ve covered include Boundaries (Henry Cloud and John Townsend), How Emotions Are Made (Lisa Feldman Barrett), and The 5 Love Languages (Gary Chapman)

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience working with deadlines
  • Experience with academic writing and/or teaching
  • Advanced degrees in the humanities, political science, business, philosophy, or a similar field
