OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Associate Director, WW Supplier Quality, this position is accountable for the development and maintenance of the supplier management process across the MMS BU (Medication Management Solutions - Business Unit). This position supports all MMS sites, design centers and provides guidance to local Supplier Quality Assurance associates. This position also ensures that MMS procedures and practices are aligned with BD standards and applicable US & global regulatory requirements. This position is accountable to provide leadership, development and mentor for the supplier quality organization.

This position partners with the procurement, supply chain, global operations and manufacturing, R&D, design assurance, service repair, customer service and sales/marketing organizations to provide mentorship as it relates to the implementation of the supplier management & quality system and to ensure compliance to product, customer, and regulatory expectations.

Through outstanding communication, effective problem solving and active management of ambiguous & complex situations, the primary deliverables for the role are to ensure capable processes are implemented and maintained for the management of supplier related activities throughout the MMS BU in compliance with the Quality System, and applicable US & global regulatory requirements. This position may interact directly with regulatory agencies for all issues related to supplier management including ISO registrars and FDA representatives.

This position contributes to WW functional strategy and priorities and ensures effective deployment throughout the MMS BU. Equally, the Senior Manager, Supplier Quality is expected to promote the crafting and maintenance of a culture of Quality throughout the MMS BU.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for collaborating in the development and maintenance of strategic supplier quality plans, initiatives, and policies.

  • Leads the Supplier Quality Engineering team to develop, implement and maintain the MMS supplier management process & procedures.

  • Engage and provide leadership directions/objectives, coaching and personal development of the supplier quality associates to perform to their best ability and meet personal, BU and plant objectives.

  • Supports the definition of the framework for department objectives, operation schedule, processes, and budgets.

  • Manages suppliers for components, finished goods, and out-sourced processes.

  • Manages and maintains the supplier management process, including supplier selection, supplier approval, supplier risk management, specification alignment, component qualification, supplier audits, supplier quality agreements, SCAR, Supplier Quality non-conformities, supplier change management, supplier business reviews, supplier performance, etc.

  • Coordinate the activities of the supplier quality engineers in support of supplier related projects and in support of supplier related initiatives from development or operations, as appropriate.

  • Build an influential and effective network and communication with WW quality, supply chain, procurement, plant quality leaders and other key WW functions (R&D, design assurance, post market surveillance, engineering, WW operations and manufacturing, etc.) to ensure alignment around priorities.

  • Drives solutions to crises with suppliers through root cause analyses, SCAR’s and conflict resolution.

  • Ensures suppliers with unsatisfactory or marginal status are addressed through supplier corrective actions.

  • Accountable for identifying supplier quality improvement or risk mitigation opportunities within the supplier base and partnering with procurement, supply chain, operations, and other functions to develop and implement solutions. Accountable to successfully manage and communicate quality issues. Responsible for the development and implementation of worldwide supplier metrics & analytics and for the actions related to trends.

  • Defines supplier quality agreement expectations and aligns supplier technical agreements across customer, design and supplier.

  • Ensure that supplier quality organization is staffed, organized, and resourced to ensure it can fulfill its obligations to comply with US & global regulatory requirements and BD procedures.

  • Develop a cohesive team, maintaining and reinforcing a strong quality presence in the manufacturing areas, encouraging positive relationships and networking effectively across sites and organizations.

  • Manage performance issues and solicit the appropriate input from HR, stakeholders, and management – write and administer performance appraisals on time and in a thorough and thoughtful manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience/Education:

  • BS/BA in related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Min 5 years experience in Medical Device manufacturing.

  • Min 8 years experience in supplier Quality, plant Quality or Quality Operations.

  • Min 7 years Management & Team Leadership experience.

  • Must be familiar with 21CFR parts 820 (QSR), 210/211, ISO13485, 93/42/EEC and having lead/participated in related audits & inspections.

  • Experience in either production or engineering management, required.

  • Multi-country/multi-cultural experience preferred.

  • Ability to define a project and direct teams through execution. Action oriented when facing issue, change and uncertainty.

  • Ability to measure team’s performance using metrics and analytical indicators
