Job Description

Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for complete and accurate entry of patient information.
1)Provides data entry support by ensuring all pertinent documents are present and complete, to ensure placement of cases is done in a safe and cost-effective manner.
2)Interacts with surgeons and office personnel, according to scheduling policies, to obtain the necessary information to schedule a procedure
3)Collaborates with anesthesia and nursing to place add-on cases
4)Managing the schedule to optimize OR utilization
5)Contributes to the development of the surgical block schedule
Responsible for posting charges
3)Balance production input and output processing to establish and confirm information completeness of all charges entered.
1)Ensures timeliness of entry to facilitate prompt billing and revenue generation of billed activbity.
2)Responsible for entering charges. Assures data entered is correct charges for service, suppplies and/or procedures.
Maintains appropriate reports, supply lists, and forms to improve operational effectiveness and promote clinical excellence.
1)Promotes necessary equipment replacement and repair by reporting through appropriate systems.
2)Participates in inventory, ordering and distribution of clerical supplies through Lawson system.
4)Prepares and replaces, as necessary, accurate patient identification such as wristbands.
3)Maintains a current supply of patient forms and is responsible for disposition of outdated forms.

Education/Experience Required:
HS diploma or equivalent. 3 years related experience in a healthcare setting, hospital, or physician office. Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Effective organizational and prioritization skills Good communication and negotiation skills. Possesses good math and writing skills Excellent computer skills. Excellent customer service skills.

  • Prolonged sitting and keying into PC/terminal -May require overtime -Able to work under deadlines and time constraints
