The Tennessee Department of Treasury impacts the lives of Tennesseans every day. Job Overview:


This position is within the Division of Claims and Risk Management, Tennessee Department of Treasury. The division administers various funds and related activities including state employee workers' compensation (WC), liability claims filed against the State, Criminal Injuries Compensation, Sexual Assault Forensic Examination reimbursement, DUI Monitoring reimbursement, and various risk management and insurance coverage activities on behalf of the State and in coordination of its agencies.

The individual in this position will operate an assigned State vehicle equipped with onboard camera system artificial intelligence learning software for the purpose of identifying and reporting dangerous conditions on state-maintained highways. The position requires sitting and driving a vehicle for a minimum of 3 hours a day and could be up to 7.5 hours, depending on the assigned State roadway to be inspected by their supervisor. Under immediate supervision the individual will collect images from the camera system that captures defects in roadways and bridges. This position will require reviewing footage to determine if the capture image is a road hazard or not. This assessment of determining if a captured image is a road hazard will be the technique used to train the AI system. The objective is to reduce the initial error rate, and to establish an accuracy rate over 92%.

This is a "pilot program" that will last for the duration of one year with the possibility of being extended. The successful candidate should live in the Nashville surrounding area.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Safely operate State assigned vehicle
  • Work with Third-Party Administrator with identifying locations to be inspected that could benefit immediately for resurfacing projects and reduce delays with patching road hazards through claims data.
  • Assist supervisor with establishing a weekly schedule of how many days per week to deploy AI technology, based upon mileage and the amount of captured footage during the deployment.
  • Assist supervisor with mapping out locations to determine estimated travel time and mileages for each specific deployment of AI technology.
  • Capture Images of defects in State owned roadways
  • Reviews and gather data results from the AI software system and provide TDOT and the Third-Party Administrator identified locations of the road hazards in real-time.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma
  • Possess and maintain a Class D driver's license valid to operate vehicles in the State of Tennessee
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively to ensure exceptional customer service
  • Must have an excellent driving record with no excessive speeding tickets, DUIs, and reckless driving in the past 5 years.
