ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree/Education: Shall have Certificate of Completion of Technologist training program accredited by an institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and the JCERT.
• Certification: Must have one of the following certifications:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
• Additional Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience: Must have the following:

• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of general radiology experience in ultrasound specialty in a level 1 hospital setting
• Proven clinical work experience within the past 12 months
• DRT’s must also have experience with Philips & Ziehm C-arms radiology equipment within the past 24 months
• Specific equipment experience: Siemens

• U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen

• English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
• Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.

JOB DUTIES:

Direct Patient Care: 95% of time involved in direct patient care.

ADMINISTRATIVE: 5% of time may entail involvement in administrative work other than direct patient care.

HOURS:

VA Business Hours:, Various tours of duty which may include day, evening, nights, weekends, holidays and on-calls. Coverage at various outpatient VA clinics is also required, as needed. Management reserves the right to determine and/or change the tour of duty. lunch is a 30-minute break. Work hours may vary depending on clinical responsibilities.

On-Call Requirements:

• A pager shall be carried at all times.
• Technologist must respond by phone or in person within 10 minutes of being signaled via pager. If responding by phone to a pager signal, they shall respond in person as dictated by the medical situation.
• The “on-call” technologist shall report and be onsite within 30 minutes of the paged to perform the required procedure.

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team-work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
