Shipyard Staffing is currently seeking Marine Welders for upcoming work in Seattle and Everett, WA
The Marine Welder must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to cut, weld, and perform other hot work as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to qualify in FCAW welding process 71T-1 and SMAW (stick) welding process 11018 in the 2G, 3G, and 4G positions.
- Knowledge of welding characteristics of metal.
- Must be able to work at heights, confined spaces, and any assigned shift.
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English).
- Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.
- Shipyard and welding experience required.
- Must have own set of basic tools
- Maritime OSHA 10 required
- Respirator fit required
Job Duties:
- Welds parts in position for fabrication of vessels, tanks or other structural assemblies.
- Uses carbon electrodes, Plasma torch or Acetylene torch to cut, shape and groove metal.
- May prepare workplace for welding by cleaning and/or preheating.
- Examines weld sizes of weld beads.
- Cleans weld area; sweeps and removes scrap.
- Other job duties as may be assigned relevant to the trade.
Physical/Mental Involvement:
- Frequent to continuous lifting of welding equipment.
- Standing, balancing, walking, climbing ladders or equipment, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, seeing, hearing and occasionally lowering self into confined spaces, crawling through small openings and working in reclined positions, as needed.
- Works in all areas of the shipyard and on board ships.
- Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions.
- Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employees work area.
