Elvia Hernández Thompson is president emerita and co-founder of Annapolis Green, an environmental nonprofit organization that focuses on connecting, informing and inspiring people to protect the environment and mitigate the effects of climate change at the grassroots level. Raised in Miami, Elvia is retired from a multifaceted federal career that included work at NASA and the Department of Defense. A public relations professional, writer, graphic artist, web designer and radio talk show producer and host, Elvia is recipient of many local government awards and citations. She has been driving electric for more than five years and is currently board secretary of the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater DC, serves on the State of Maryland’s Zero Emission Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Council (ZEEVIC) and on the City of Annapolis’ Small Business Recovery Task Force and Transportation Board. Elvia is a graduate of Leadership Anne Arundel and Climate Reality and is a Master Watershed Steward. Her master’s degree is in public administration from Florida International University. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Miami. She is fluent in several languages and is an avid sailor.
