Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Reports to: GL Accountant

FLSA status: Non-Exempt

Purpose of Job: To supply administrative support to the accounting team by entering data, performing audits, providing accounting support to onsite teams, and assisting in special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with Accounts Payable
  • Complete simpler resident ledger corrections
  • Post fees to resident accounts
  • Assist in issuing resident utility billing statements
  • Undertake special projects as requested by the accounting team

Perform Audits:

  • Review Petty Cash entries by onsite staff in AppFolio and follow up if they are not entered in a timely manner
  • Track insurance policies for properties to ensure they do not lapse
  • Audit the Interim Bill report and alert onsite managers if residents have not placed utility services in their name
  • Monitor security deposit account balances relative to resident activity

Data Entry:

  • Reconcile accounts
  • Enter invoices
  • Make. journal entries into AppFolio as needed

  • Confidence in basic math skills
  • Willingness to learn and demonstration of a sustained desire for professional development

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of administrative support experience
  • Working experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with AppFolio preferred, but training will be provided
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance

This position is remote, applicants are expected to live in the Portland area.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 per year
