Summary

The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine delivers cutting-edge research focused on cancer biology, stem cell biology, developmental biology, and neurobiology. The department ranks among the top ten in the nation in funding from the National Institutes of Health. We are seeking a Research Administration Associate to handle pre-award and/or post award activities and programs including, but not limited to, financial analysis, grant submissions, compliance review, and/or financial reporting and tracking. Will be able to independently submit grants, perform grant financial analysis, forecast budgets, and prepare routine and specialized financial reports. In addition, will assist with the preparation and entry of budgets and translate fiscal information in a clear and concise matter to internal and external stakeholders.


This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Job Duties

  • Review and approve grant applications, certifying summary data in the College's electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN) on behalf of the department.
  • Prepare grant and subcontract submissions internally (BRAIN) and externally (Sponsor sites).
  • Prepare outgoing subcontracts and review incoming subcontracts.
  • Facilitate year-end budget preparation by examining budgets and confirming accuracy by conducting variance analysis for grant quarterly/biannual/annual reporting purposes.
  • Maintain Labor Distribution in PEPT system, responsible for HR Record updates and corrections as well as effort reporting.
  • Quarterly account summary updates and reviews with faculty (Grant and Unrestricted accounts).
  • Financial forecasting to help faculty with ability to project for new hires, equipment, and supply purchases, etc.
  • CPRIT CGMS system updates.
  • Rebudgeting - Type 1& 2 account.
  • Account setups (type 1&2), pending accounts.
  • Grant Closeouts, reviewing and approving FSR.
  • Account disputes and/ discrepancies, clearing of Default, JV transfers, Check request shopping charts, and Concur approvals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
